Hello,

At my house, which is currently under construction, there is a large window section on one side measuring approximately 3.30 meters (11 feet) wide and 5.50 meters (18 feet) high (according to the plans, see photo).

According to the thermal insulation requirements, some type of sun protection or privacy screen must be installed here as well. On the inside, there is no ceiling because it is a large gallery area. Do you have any suggestions on what kind of sun protection could be installed there? Roller shutters would be too large for the total area, a venetian blind would be too unstable and also too large in area? Zip screens could develop mold in damp conditions? I already thank you in advance.

Best regards

Interior sun protection... forget it. It’s no good.

Textile screens... no personal experience. Just what I see and hear, mostly from commercial buildings. However, the experience is still too recent to comment on mold issues. I do see and hear about numerous screens that either start to develop folds immediately during installation or shortly after. Whether this is due to poor quality, improper installation, or simply normal fabric “movement,” I have no idea.

(Not only) I am particularly confused by the timing of the consideration. How does one come up with such an extravagant detail on the one hand, yet not plan it on the other? – I interpret "under construction" as "approved and started."

Make the most powerful electric curtains the world has ever seen

Inspired by your window, I would also be interested in the house. Do you have any pictures you would like to share with us?

The architect said it wouldn’t be a problem. So I just trusted that. After all, you don’t build that often in your life... I’d rather not share any pictures here right now, as I have few to none showing the overall view at this stage.

Textile screen

I had to look up what that means first. It can look quite nice, but with the second large and also asymmetrical window, I’m a bit doubtful. Especially if you have a roller shutter on the side but a textile screen at the front.

Maintenance seems to be complicated. These things shouldn’t stay wet for too long if there’s an unexpected shower. Maybe the creases come from being rolled up while still damp for too long?

It’s difficult to find a good solution afterward.

Then he should put his money where his mouth is. Hic Rhodos.

I just took that for granted.
Did you rely on that, or were you left hanging?

The forum appreciates it when it’s not a one-way street.

How many times has the plan been changed so far?
