I have what might seem like a basic question. We’ve received the first quote from the electrician and are somewhat surprised by the additional costs being charged.
Initially, we planned to have a duplex LAN outlet in almost every room. My assumption was that it wouldn’t be significantly more expensive than a simplex outlet. But that turned out to be incorrect... So now we’re trying to reduce the costs a bit.
My question is: Does it make a difference in performance if I use a duplex LAN outlet simultaneously, or a simplex outlet connected to a small gigabit switch, for example from TP Link?
We plan to install CAT 7 cabling and currently expect an internet connection speed of around 150 Mbit/s.
It obviously doesn’t look as neat, but it will always be hidden behind the desk or TV anyway.

A second option is always a defensive offer. He wants to avoid the stress because it takes longer and there are many ways to make mistakes, which prevents him from moving on and delivering his standard service.
Alternatively, he might be securing an additional workforce and expertise this way.
