Hello everyone,

I need your help.

In 2017, we converted a hall into a residential house. The facade was completed in September. Three days ago, I noticed the following defects: there is a reddish-brown liquid (rust?) running down from the gable.

The facade was insulated with 16cm (6.3 inches) of expanded polystyrene insulation. The gable was painted gray.

Please advise.

Merry Christmas to you!

Without meaning to offend, have you traced the origin? You can’t see it clearly in the pictures because that area is cleverly cropped out. Since these appear to be tracks... try following them back to their source. Possibly paint from the roof overhang?

Hello toxic,

oops, sorry, I had to crop the pictures because they were too large. Here are 2 pictures again.

You can clearly see it is the color of the roof, or more precisely, of the tongue-and-groove boards.

Hello again,

Thank you for your responses.
I will take more detailed pictures tomorrow.
What I don’t understand is that in September the gable was painted by a professional company. Now (end of December), there are streaks everywhere?? There were none before. That can’t be right. The heating was installed two weeks ago. Now the floor heating system is running its heating program.

So, it seems the issue itself is more or less clear. The remaining question is: Why, why now, and where is the water coming from?

Unfortunately, I cannot answer that for you.
