Hello everyone!

I need a bit of clarification:
What is the difference between facing bricks (NF or similar) and brick slips?

I have already searched online but couldn’t make sense of the information.

Thanks in advance, torsan

Clinker bricks are fired bricks, for example in the NF size, 11.5x24x7.1cm (4.5x9.5x2.8 inches), and clinker slips are only thin slices, similar to tiles, with a clinker appearance.

Oh, I see!
Are there any significant disadvantages to using brick slips? Is the installation more expensive?

We are building a new house and want to have part of it clad.

Thanks in advance!

Best regards, torsan

Well, veneer bricks require a solid base to attach them to. Clinker bricks, on the other hand, form a separate, freestanding masonry shell. So, the materials are fundamentally different.

OK. As I understand it, the thin brick veneers will be adhered to an external wall insulation system (EWIS).

I think, in the end, the design decision will be made by my wife. :-)
