Hello everyone,
Does anyone have experience regarding the additional cost of a brick veneer facade compared to a plaster/render facade? Approximately how much extra should one expect?
Has anyone regretted choosing a brick veneer for their house?
Thank you very much.

No, I haven’t. But you have to compare monolithic construction or ETICS (external thermal insulation composite system) with brick veneer. Then there’s the question of the brick veneer itself – which format and installation method, and therefore which price (in addition to the usual material cost differences between bricks of the same format).
I have already lived in a fully brick-veneer house (classic red-multicolor bricks), then in a mixed house (ground floor brick veneer in large 2DF format and upper floor ETICS), and now I’m currently applying ETICS on a brick-veneer facade in my new house.
Could you briefly explain that? I thought you can also install a brick veneer facade over ETICS?

I can also install a clinker brick facade on an external thermal insulation composite system (ETICS), right? In that case, however, they would be brick slips, not a "real" clinker brick facade. A clinker brick facade combined with insulation would be a two-shell construction, meaning load-bearing masonry, (core) insulation, (if applicable) an air gap, and a facing layer with clinker bricks.

A brick veneer facade with insulation would be a cavity wall system, meaning load-bearing masonry, (core) insulation, (if applicable) an air gap, and a facing layer with bricks. This likely requires significantly more floor space or needs to be accounted for in the planning phase in advance, right?
Has anyone installed brick slips, or can you see the difference?
On the apartment building where my condominium unit is located, there are partially brick slips (brick veneers) applied over the external thermal insulation composite system (ETICS). I am not an expert, so from a distance, I couldn’t tell the difference. Up close, you might be able to recognize them in some spots, but mainly because the installers did a poor job. When you tap the walls, you can feel it because the brick slips are naturally much thinner.
However, for my own house, I wouldn’t have a problem with brick slips, as long as I was confident that the installation was done properly.
