ᐅ Kitchen Sofa – Which Color?

Hello,

I can’t decide which color the kitchen sofa should be. So, I’m just asking the group: which color would appeal to you for a kitchen sofa?

The kitchen has a lot of wood: oak flooring, a light oak table, and an oak countertop on a matte black kitchen. The kitchen takes up a lot of space. The entire room will get a lot of light (east-facing window 4.5m (15 feet) wide in a room 5.5m (18 feet) wide).
The rest of the kitchen has no color. Walls are white, I have no accessories, and no colored towels either. The kitchen backsplash will be tiled in black.

I was about to order “yellow,” but hesitated at the last moment. Now I’m curious to hear what you think.

I have (unfortunately!) discovered the Signet website. They offer various “upholstered benches” that are both attractive and quite expensive. 😳 But with a wide range of lengths and colors. Since @kbt09 kindly pointed out that the model I originally had in mind only has a rather narrow seat area, I’ve been looking around again. Now it’s probably going to get expensive. 😳

That’s often the problem 😉
Great stuff and the desire to have it...
... not just with furniture.
Actually, you should just go to Ikea and buy something immediately, then never visit the internet or any other furniture stores again.

Sorry @Bertram100 ... but you described really well what you want the sofa for. Signet ... something like Blue City or Smilla?

Yes, I find the Smilla quite nice. It’s straightforward but not too cold or modern. Apparently, the Smilla is also available with “full” armrests that extend all the way to the front edge of the seat.
I also like the Blue City, as long as it’s not leather. Unfortunately, the photos make the sofa look very “cool.” If I imagine a different color and legs, I think it could also look nice.

Now I’m still considering whether my room can handle an extended sofa. The table is 160cm (63 inches), so the sofa should probably be at least around 225cm (89 inches). That way it won’t look like “oops, the sofa turned out a little too long,” but rather that it has a purpose. Then having two armrests wouldn’t be a problem either.
A friend claims that it doesn’t work to combine eating and relaxing on the same sofa because it would always feel like “eating” since the table is right there in front. Hmm, I’m not sure. I hope it depends on the comfort level of the sofa.

Today the kitchen is being delivered and will be installed over the next few days. Only then will I really see how much space is left in the room. Hopefully, the table will arrive in two weeks.

I’m really excited; it’s all so exciting. 🙂

So, the sofa seats are always in high demand with my guests, even if we’re just having a casual chat or something. I prefer sitting there myself and only give it up when I have guests. It’s also more practical that way, as you’re closer to the kitchen area and can quickly grab more supplies 😉. And for reading time or similar, the table has the advantage that you can keep your tea or coffee right there, have your laptop ready to use, and so on.

I want to revisit the kitchen sofa topic because a problem has come up that I hadn’t considered before:
the table measures 160 x 90 cm (63 x 35 inches) and has legs positioned right at the corners. They are not set in at all, not even slightly. How long can the sofa be so that you can still pass by the table legs?

Or is a significantly longer sofa an option, allowing you to slide in all the way up to the table?

What kind or style of kitchen sofa can I place next to a table with legs at the corners?
