Hello,

I can’t decide which color the kitchen sofa should be. So, I’m just asking the group: which color would appeal to you for a kitchen sofa?

The kitchen has a lot of wood: oak flooring, a light oak table, and an oak countertop on a matte black kitchen. The kitchen takes up a lot of space. The entire room will get a lot of light (east-facing window 4.5m (15 feet) wide in a room 5.5m (18 feet) wide).
The rest of the kitchen has no color. Walls are white, I have no accessories, and no colored towels either. The kitchen backsplash will be tiled in black.

I was about to order “yellow,” but hesitated at the last moment. Now I’m curious to hear what you think.

Olive green upholstered sofa with button details in the living room

Gray upholstered fabric sofa in a bright living room with plants and rug.

Definitely yellow, even if it’s a bit more prone to showing dirt.

256 cm (8 ft 5 in) beam layer (= floor above, 3 cm (1.2 in) thick)

Great, many thanks.
We are currently wondering if the pure kitchen area with a ceiling height of 2.42 m (7 ft 11 in) (white concrete ceiling above) is sufficient or if it should be 15 cm (6 in) higher. Since there is also plenty of window area there, I think the 2.42 m height should be adequate, especially in combination with your measurements now.
@Bertram100 sorry for the off-topic side question, it’s done again already 😀. By the way... I would prefer the gray or a red if that were available.

@Bertram100 ... hmm ... if the armrest height is important to you, I wouldn’t buy the sofa without trying it out first. The backrest is probably the same height because you want to sit crosswise and rest the book on it.

Say a few words so we can look up this sofa online. At first glance, the seat depth and proportions seem worth checking.

Yes, exactly, I would especially like the armrest to match the backrest so that I can comfortably sit sideways and read. This way, the arms can rest on either the backrest or the armrest.

The sofa is called "Burdett" and can be found at home24.

For the seat depth, I just assume it is suitable for sitting and lounging, as well as fitting a standard table height.

I need to correct my post from yesterday: my sofa is about 83 cm (33 inches) deep.

Sofa Burdett ==> my sofa
Seat depth 47 cm (19 inches) ==> mine is 53 cm (21 inches) … my quite comfortable rattan chairs have a seat depth of about 44 cm (17 inches)
Armrest/backrest = 31 cm (12 inches) (83-52) ==> mine are approximately 27/28 cm (11 inches)

I wouldn’t buy this without trying it out first. I looked at the Lagor model there (only available in a shade of gray), which seems more suitable for purchase without a trial.

I also have an oak table with a black base. Along with it, I have cantilever chairs in... yellow.
Now the faux leather is wearing out. Some areas are already peeling, revealing the white backing layer.
You might think I've moved past the yellow trend, but... the current golden yellow, the mustard shade I have now, the earlier ochre... really appeals to me... in beautiful velvet, that could work! ❤️
And now guess what recommendation I'm giving you :p
