Hello,
I can’t decide which color the kitchen sofa should be. So, I’m just asking the group: which color would appeal to you for a kitchen sofa?
The kitchen has a lot of wood: oak flooring, a light oak table, and an oak countertop on a matte black kitchen. The kitchen takes up a lot of space. The entire room will get a lot of light (east-facing window 4.5m (15 feet) wide in a room 5.5m (18 feet) wide).
The rest of the kitchen has no color. Walls are white, I have no accessories, and no colored towels either. The kitchen backsplash will be tiled in black.
I was about to order “yellow,” but hesitated at the last moment. Now I’m curious to hear what you think.

The yellow sofa looks very nice in the picture, but I find the combination of yellow and black quite ugly. Also, the contrast with the oak wood would be too subtle: oak table, oak floor, and mustard yellow sofa are all very similar in color.
If you want a colored sofa, I think olive is the best choice among the available colors: olive definitely goes well with black. It’s a mix of black and yellow.
I also like the gray option, which harmonizes well with the black kitchen and white walls and looks elegant with wood. You can add color with cushions, towels, wall paint, or pictures—these are easy and inexpensive to change if you ever want a different look.
Personally, I would look for a sofa in a warm, dark red or better yet, rust red. Unfortunately, that color isn’t available with this model.
I’m afraid you’ll get a lot of different opinions here and end up no wiser than before 😉

We don’t have a kitchen sofa, but we do have a bench and chairs upholstered with faux leather. The bench is light gray, the chairs are mustard, burgundy, dark green, and dark blue. The table, rustic floorboards, and kitchen countertop are oak—specifically wild oak—with matte black kitchen fronts. It works well and looks cheerful. So it’s definitely possible with more than one color.

The table, the farmhouse-style floorboards, and the kitchen countertop are oak—specifically called wild oak—and the kitchen cabinets are matte black. It works and looks cheerful. So it’s possible to use more than just one color. By the way, @hampshire, could you please tell me your ceiling height in the kitchen area? That would be helpful. We’re currently deciding on this, and the kitchen area will basically be “inserted underneath,” while the rest of the open-plan space will have a gallery. I saw a picture of your layout once but can’t find it now. The goal is to achieve a suitable but not too low ceiling height for the kitchen.

My kitchen is also a combination of matte black and oak wood, with a large wooden table, light gray chairs, concrete-gray tiles, and a red kitchen wall. With a fruit bowl, herbs, and flowers, that adds enough color for me. If we ever get tired of the red, the wall might be painted a pale green...
Everyone’s taste is different, which makes it so hard to give advice. Also, the way something looks depends a lot on the room itself.

Bertram1006 Jan 2021 16:41I haven’t ordered a sofa yet. I’m waiting until the kitchen is installed (hopefully in two weeks) and the table is delivered (also hopefully in two weeks).
Then I’ll post some photos here and ask for advice again.
My kitchen sofa really only needs to meet two requirements: the armrest must be the same height as the backrest (it’s wonderful for reading; I wouldn’t want it any other way) and the length must fit (the table is 160cm (63 inches) long). And of course, it should be comfortable and have a nice color. But I assume it will.
Regarding the armrest height, I came across this sofa and haven’t found another one with the same feature.
