Hello everyone,
I would quickly need your assessment on whether the price is reasonable.
The kitchen, including stove, microwave, oven, dishwasher, and sink, is supposed to cost €11,850.
What is not included are the refrigerator, backsplash, and faucet.
Lowest online prices for the appliances compared to the kitchen studio:
- Stove €1,800. Studio price €2,050 including installation = okay
- Dishwasher €560. Studio price €565 including installation = okay
- Oven + microwave €1,120. Studio price €1,200 including installation
- Sink studio price estimated €500-600, since it is a ceramic sink
Total cost for appliances = €4,320-4,420 without refrigerator, backsplash, and faucet.
So my problem is not the electrical appliances.
Therefore, the pure kitchen furniture is supposed to cost about €7,600.
- Brand: Bauformat
- High-gloss lacquered fronts
- Worktop laminate with thick edging
- The island is 2.50 m x 1 m (8.2 ft x 3.3 ft)
- The kitchen run is 3.20 m (10.5 ft)
- High cabinet 1 m x 46 cm (3.3 ft x 18 in)
Attached are the pictures. Are the €7,600 for the kitchen furniture justified?
It’s a small kitchen studio with very good advice.

But I see so many YouTubers revealing their prices and getting so much more kitchen for the money.

Fortunately, the kitchen isn’t the most important room for everyone... I spent much more time on the bathroom and the tiles, so the kitchen really came together quickly.
Chose a brand – something local, Häcker.
Looked at their available cabinet fronts – done.
Picked a matching countertop – done.
Kitchen layout = U-shaped,
oven and dishwasher positioned at half height, wide cooktop, side-by-side refrigerator in between – so there weren’t many options left for the rest.

The phrase about the most important room was meant more metaphorically.
In the past, the kitchen was the only heated room. People would gather there, and that’s where life happened. Even today, this is often still the case. The best parties are usually kitchen parties, and children often prefer to sit at the kitchen dining table to do their homework while lunch is being prepared right next to them. The term “most important” might be better replaced with “most social” (note: superlative used as a stylistic device).

I think we can agree that the kitchen is an absolutely important room where you can spend a lot of enjoyable time.
What’s a pity is that some people can only do this if their kitchen costs 40,000 or more.
My grandmother had a worn-out kitchen. There was a clay water filter, a tray with cookies in a glass jar, a gas stove, a small refrigerator, and a small wooden table with four stools. The best times ever!
But I admit... these kitchens do look nice. So, for 5,000 to 8,000 I would consider getting something like that too. But as I said... kitchens costing 40,000 or more seem to me like a kind of admission that I’m just not creative enough and have to buy “beauty.”
On the other hand... if the money is there and it doesn’t matter, then it’s fine. But taking out a loan for a kitchen and paying it off over five years is... well, I’d say... unusual. And typical of today’s times is that then the fridge with internet connection, Bluetooth, and Blu-ray player is too loud to watch TV quietly…

Well, we just barely managed with 5-8, but 40… no. We simply have different priorities. I would never spend that much money on furniture. So, we’ve mostly moved away from IKEA, but having a Sudbrock living room set or a Poggenpohl kitchen is really not necessary.
Just like there’s no need for a Gucci bag, a Chanel blazer, or a Q5 SUV. Simply put: we have no interest in status symbols at all.
I’m long past "cheap," but affordable is fine, reasonable definitely, and sometimes expensive if there are no alternatives. But overpriced just because it’s exclusive… no thanks.
Of course, price ranges are relative to everyone’s budget.

I see Müllerin similarly to you.
I just can’t quite let go of Ikea. They also have high-quality options like the Billy series, with nice hacks especially for the kids’ room.
And the price is the same.
What really bothers me about furniture stores are these “the sun rose in the west today” kind of discounts.

Everyone does it the way they like and need. I just have to hold back a smile when the kitchen (or other rooms) is designed only to impress friends/neighbors/colleagues, without really considering the homeowner’s own needs. The main thing is that it’s expensive ^^
And yes, I know people who have put together their kitchens from classified ads, but with skill and taste have created wonderful spaces on a small budget where you enjoy spending time. And coziness combined with a $15 filter coffee maker plus a glass of water from a 20-cent Aldi bottle beats
