Hello everyone,
As we are currently looking into buying a kitchen, we are interested in the fairness of the asking prices. Our experience so far has been that price reductions of 25-50% off the initial prices have sometimes been offered.
To get a better idea of what constitutes a reasonable price for a kitchen, rather than focusing on "how much of a discount can I negotiate," I would like to see a list of your kitchen purchases:
Manufacturer:
Kitchen studio:
Initial price:
Final price:
I hope this discussion will help readers by sharing real experiences, leading to a fair interaction at the kitchen showroom, without either party feeling like they have been taken advantage of.
Best regards,
Sascha aus H

Changeling5 Dec 2017 09:45We are currently planning the kitchen as well, and I’m not sure if I can go for this offer.
Here’s our plan so far (created with the KitchenClick kitchen planner; the “empty” wall actually isn’t there, it leads to the living room):
The planner gives a price of €9,900, though this is just a concept drawing; we will bring in the refrigerator ourselves, the fronts don’t fit, the 135° angles aren’t included, the appliances are not correct, etc.—just something to get an idea. The kitchen size is 4.4 x 2.8m (14.4 x 9.2 ft).
Möbel Kraft wanted to charge us about €15,000 for this, so we slowly backed off...
At a kitchen studio, we were offered €9,000 with MDF fronts, a standard veneered worktop, glass inserts on the sides of the drawers, farmhouse-style fronts (PG3). All appliances are AEG, total internet price about €1,600 including delivery (dishwasher, induction cooktop with hood, oven — microwave, sink, and fridge will be brought in by us; we do not want a steam oven). Sounds affordable at first, but we don’t need WiFi in the cooktop or 46 hipster programs in the oven.
Is over €7,000 for “wood,” delivery, and installation justified at this size? The brand is unknown and sounded like some kind of in-house brand of the studio. Possibly a cheaper alternative to Sachsenküchen.
The designer (very nice and, in my opinion, competent) also showed us the billing breakdown on the screen and explained that the price is based on that. It’s within our budget, and we really like the kitchen, but since there is so much trickery in this area, I feel a bit uneasy about signing right away on the “first” or second visit to a kitchen studio. Is this worry unfounded, or is there still plenty of room to negotiate even with the fixed-price offer?
(If anyone notices anything particularly unusual about the kitchen that they would never do, feedback is very welcome )

Deliverer5 Dec 2017 10:33The window won’t open anymore unless the sink is moved a bit further to the left.
The price doesn’t sound unreasonable, especially considering all the rounded corners and their structure included.

What I would never do
You don’t have enough countertop space next to the sink, nor (more importantly) next to the cooktop. I find that quite unfortunate. There are still 90cm (35 inches) available there (70cm (27.5 inches) cooktop, 120cm (47 inches) double sink – in the picture, only a single sink is shown). So far, it has been sufficient, but I will ask again. What would you need the space for?

The price doesn’t sound unfair, especially considering all the rounded corners and their construction. The window has a bottom vent, which is not shown here. But thanks for the tip!
I’m glad you see the price that way too; it reassures me a bit.

HilfeHilfe5 Dec 2017 11:36Because of the price, nothing else. You still need to check out 1-2 more studios.
Even the Alno hopps won’t make it any better.

garfunkel5 Dec 2017 20:33I would move the stove further to the right, toward the window. Having countertop space at least the size of a pot on both sides of the stove is simply very practical.
