Sniperlein884 Feb 2015 12:42Hello ...
I am currently looking for my first kitchen for my new apartment. To keep it short: I have about 2500 Euro available and have only looked at ready-made kitchen units so far, but I was never really satisfied. Now I tried using the IKEA kitchen planner and put together my kitchen.
However, one problem remains: I would like to combine the oven and refrigerator in a tall cabinet. This is something you see more and more often and I really like it! But so far, I haven’t found a suitable cabinet for that. Ideally, I want the refrigerator at the bottom with the oven integrated above it.
Do you have any experience with this or can you tell me the best way to achieve it? Because somehow I always see a door in the way or an extra drawer too many … or I’m unsure if the measurements will fit.
Then another question: When I use the kitchen planner, I always select the cabinet and then customize its color (fronts, etc.) as I like. Once I’ve finished with all the cabinets and so on … is everything then included? Or do I still have to make additional clicks to get certain accessories? I don’t want anything to be missing when I start assembling the kitchen. Actually, I would like to save the 200 Euro planning cost … and well … also the assembly cost, because I honestly find it a bit overpriced … (I hope I’m not making any enemies here :O )
Good luck Sniperlein88

KnolleJupp4 Feb 2015 14:14Placing an oven and a refrigerator stacked in a tall cabinet is not very common, but it should be feasible without problems. Modern appliances are much better insulated nowadays. However, I’m almost certain that IKEA doesn’t offer this kind of cabinet as a finished product—unless you assemble such a cabinet yourself.
If you’re using the online kitchen planner, select a cabinet and then click on “Customize” on the right. After that, click on “Modify” below. You will find many more cabinet options there.
For example, you need to make sure you plan for enough shelves and so on...

IKEA-Experte4 Feb 2015 14:38Hello,
since I only use Windows in emergencies, I am not familiar with the planner and prefer to plan mentally.
If you choose a small refrigerator with a niche height of 88 cm (35 inches), the next larger door height is 100 cm (39 inches). This means you can insert a shelf at about 10 cm (4 inches) from the bottom inside the cabinet, place the oven base above the kitchen cabinet, and then add another shelf above that, creating a compartment with the 40 cm (16 inches) high door in a 200 cm (79 inches) tall cabinet.
An example of such a refrigerator would be the Neff K1524X9 or Neff K 525X8K (K225 A2).

bubbel_599411 Feb 2015 12:25For thermal reasons, I would strongly advise against it. My brother is a carpenter and builds many kitchens himself. He always makes sure that hot and cold appliances are separated by at least an empty cabinet. If you stack the appliances, whether the refrigerator is on top or bottom, it could cause bigger problems both in terms of energy efficiency and thermal performance. I wanted to place the oven/steamer and refrigerator side by side in our renovation. Everyone strongly advised me against it.
