Hello,

I have a small issue with my kitchen planning. I need to arrange the base cabinets around a corner. I’ve tried many different options, but in the end, I will only have about 50 cm (20 inches) of space left. Around the corner, the depth continues at 37 cm (15 inches). This means that on one side I need to bridge about 13 cm (5 inches), and on the other side, there must be a few centimeters of clearance so that the drawers can still open.

Do you understand what I mean?

How is this usually solved professionally?

What is next to the available 50cm (20 inches)?
Or even better, why don’t you share your current kitchen design here?
Best regards

Hello,

the last 50cm (20 inches) before the free space is an integrated dishwasher from Ikea. As a layperson, I would have assumed that you could simply place, for example, a 40cm (16 inches) wide cabinet there and just cover it with a front panel. I’m just not sure how that would work with a clean cut, and especially about the additional gap on the first base cabinet of the new section...

You can do it like that, and you won’t need to trim anything on the side. A filler strip, which you will need to cut to size, will go next to the other cabinet. Since it’s difficult to use the baseboard panel with METOD in this case, you will probably need to use an expensive end panel.

But if I don’t make any cuts, that means the fitting strip of the new side will be directly against the front of the 40cm (16 inch) cabinet, right?! Because only 13cm (5 inches) of the 40 would be visible there...

Yes, exactly. Where is the problem?
By the way, the front is specified as 39.4cm (15.5 inches).
