Hello everyone,
Until now, I’ve mostly followed the topics here quietly, but I thought I might ask for your experiences this time 🙂
We are building with Schwörerhaus, and our current task is to plan our kitchen so that we also get the layout for the utility connections. We thought we’d get three quotes, compare them, and then decide. But it’s not as easy as we thought.
So far, we have visited two kitchen showrooms. Both told us they only plan and sell the kitchen with the appliances included, and during the consultation, we could only specify which functions are important to us for the appliances.
After all the planning, we got to see a finished rendering on-site and were given a price. However, we were not allowed to take any pictures or printed plans of the final kitchen. Also, no exact model numbers or similar details about the appliances were provided. We were told the brand, but a supplier usually offers more than one appliance of a brand.
This all seems quite unprofessional to me. The advisors’ argument was each time that they put in the effort, and then I might take the plan and get it done somewhere else. In the end, I determined the layout, number of cabinets, etc., myself at both places—and naturally chose the same for each to compare.
But without the details, I can hardly compare. In the end, I don’t really know which appliances are included. If company 1 says it costs 25,000 EUR and company 2 says 15,000 EUR, I have no way of understanding what causes the difference. Both kitchens are roughly identical in layout and the number of cabinets, so it must be the appliances? It would be nice to have that listed so I could maybe choose cheaper appliances in one kitchen or more expensive ones in the other if something is “missing” or however.
What are your experiences here? Does anyone perhaps know a good kitchen studio in Berlin/Brandenburg where you can get everything listed clearly?
I’m a bit unsure right now... I wouldn’t want to pay such an amount “just like that” without knowing exactly what I am paying for in the end.
Thanks in advance for your insights.
Best regards,
ElaVogel

They are not stupid, but in word processing, it is a common way to write something in italics. Italics are used to set apart or emphasize something. If a forum or other text-processing software on a device does not support this, the reader knows that emphasis is intended here. Except Silke. Now you know. It’s also not necessarily stupid just because, in your opinion, it seems “somewhat pointless.”
I know when to use italics. Using underscores for that is new to me, especially since you apparently can really write in italics.
I think many others don’t know that either. Except Yvonne, who knows everything.
It just interrupts the flow of the text; it wasn’t easy to read.

I wish I had your time... Sorry, but somehow that seems contradictory to me 😉 Where exactly do you see a contradiction? We once had a day off together and the child stayed with the grandparents. However, they live about 100 meters (100 kilometers) away. You can’t just drop off the child quickly to go to a furniture store for a few hours and then pick them up again. You do it once, and then it has to work out. Without the child, I would have just left after a few hours and wouldn’t have spent 7 hours there.
PS: I’m not familiar with this underscore thing either, and I don’t see why anyone would do that if italicizing is possible.

The year before last, we spent over 7 hours at the furniture store buying a bedroom set, until we found and put together a matching wardrobe for the bed we had chosen. Seriously? 7 hours? 😀 😱 🤨
And that was really because of the salesperson?

Then you drop off your kids in Småland, have a nice breakfast in the restaurant first. After that, you spend 7 hours visiting all the other furniture stores in the center, then pick up the kids fresh and relaxed from Småland just before 8 p.m. The kids get a veggie hotdog for 50 cents and then it’s off home.
I don’t know about the underscores either. I’m familiar with underline, bold (which isn’t possible here in the forum), and italics. Another thing I know is surrounding text with *asterisks*, which in some forums and other software forces bold formatting.
But I don’t find underscores annoying or odd. So far, I just assumed it’s some kind of strange autocorrect—underscore instead of a space?

And was it really the seller’s fault? No, it was on us. We had actually kept the whole day free, fully aware that we needed to make a purchase that day. We spent a lot of time looking around the showroom and ended up choosing a sliding door wardrobe. But then there was some problem with the matching bed. We just called it quits and kept looking. So we switched gears and looked for the bed first.
We found one that we both liked. But then some other issue came up.
So we continued searching and finally found something. Unfortunately, the supplier only offered hinged door wardrobes. As laypeople, we thought, "White bed with wood accents—any white wardrobe should match." But since the bed had a special shade of white, it actually looked quite bad together.
The salesperson, however, was sure he had seen that shade before on a sliding door wardrobe in the showroom.
After a thorough search and several phone calls, the salesperson finally found a wardrobe from another supplier. He really showed perseverance and earned his commission that day.
Smaland never really wanted our child.

Yes, I was about to ask if the seller had hanged themselves in the meantime. 😉Similar topics
