How is the practical experience with a kitchen island?
Currently, I have a standard kitchen countertop. But I’m considering a kitchen island. I’m just wondering how it is with grease splatters and similar issues. Sometimes the grease splashes quite a bit, and the area around the stove gets covered. I’ve also noticed some on the floor, since my cooktop is only about 5-10 cm (2–4 inches) from the edge.
With a kitchen island, would this mean you need at least 20 cm (8 inches) clearance on the front, back, and both sides from the edge of the countertop to avoid grease ending up all over the floor?
My sink will probably be on the opposite side. How is cleaning handled in that case? It probably creates more mess if you have to carry dirty dishes across the floor, right?

In the end, only what is delivered really counts. I simply suspect it will be difficult to get identical kitchens offered.
For us, it was really straightforward. It feels like 50% of the new kitchens come from that studio. No one has anything negative to say. An acquaintance once tried to get comparisons; the studio was cheaper. They exchanged data with the general contractor. It even went so far that the kitchen installation was included in the general contractor’s schedule.

Yes, and you are right about the recommendations. Still, it’s a good idea to get 1-2 additional quotes for comparison. Otherwise, we had more than one recommendation (depending on where you live, there can certainly be more good studios, for example in big cities, the Ruhr area, etc.).

I want to plan something like this too. How much does it roughly cost?
I'm currently making a list of what I want before my kitchen studio appointment.
They will probably ask about the budget. What amount should I give for a kitchen like this? We paid about €12,000 (approx. $13,000) for it. The exact same kitchen with similar features was quoted at more than twice that price in two other studios...
We had a total of five offers and started negotiating with the two friendliest salespeople. They were also the cheapest from the start—lucky us.
Matte white glass fronts, otherwise nothing unusual or expensive.
For the budget, I think we stated €11,000 (approx. $12,000) if it couldn’t be avoided.
We always ask for the price without appliances. Yes, the prices are always for these module combinations, but there is little room to save on the cabinets. However, appliances can usually be replaced with cheaper alternatives or possibly removed from the package and purchased separately. Or I might choose to have fewer drawers rather than settle for a different oven.
So far, we have always received a response.
