ᐅ Kitchen appliances you wouldn’t want to live without?

Hello everyone,

Like many others, I am building a new house and sooner or later I will need to plan the kitchen as well.
In my current rental apartment, I have a standard fridge-freezer combination stacked vertically (80cm (31.5 inches) wide), a ceramic cooktop, and a combined oven with fan.
I also use countertop appliances like an electric kettle, sous-vide stick, microwave, vacuum sealer, and a food processor (Bosch).

I cook regularly and enjoy trying new recipes but haven’t really looked into new appliances yet.
I should also mention that I am planning an outdoor kitchen with a grill station and deep fryer, so while indoor grilling will still be an option, it can be done outside as well. The frying will definitely be outside due to the smell.

But what would you say is so great that you absolutely need to have it?

Cheers

It’s really interesting to read about everyone’s experiences here. I also keep wondering from time to time whether a thermal mass would be worthwhile... but I think, in my case, it wouldn’t be used often enough to truly justify it.

Then try the Monsieur instead; it’s less of a loss if you end up not using it.

The electric kettle is used daily here, as is the milk frother. What we also frequently use is the air fryer. Quickly heating up rolls, frying potatoes the next day, etc. I wouldn’t want to be without it anymore.

As I said, my interest was completely lost.

Mine too.

For every additional cycle the consultant wanted to demonstrate, the container of course had to be cleaned first (she didn’t have the second container with her, which also costs quite a bit).

You have to set the times, set the temperature, and if I remember correctly, confirm after each added ingredient and adjust further settings.

Maybe it was just the consultant, but I felt this device slowed me down rather than speeding things up. That’s why we decided against it.

As for a device we have never owned or seen in anyone else’s home – a Quooker. Hoping it will solve the issue of instant boiling water as a luxury problem 🙂 We’ll see what I can report after some time.

With the Quooker, the price would bother me. Around 1000 euros. The time I need to earn that is enough to fill and put on a pot of water at least 3000 times. And then there’s the maintenance – good for at least another 1000 equivalents of boiling water.

I bought a Lidl Cuisine Monsieur yesterday (but it hasn’t arrived yet). Hoping that the "Guided Cooking" feature will help me cook more by myself and, above all, healthier. Has anyone had experience with this or alternatively with the TM in this regard?

I got up at 7:00 am on Monday (my first day off), greasy hair under my hat—luckily masks are still mandatory, so no one sees the bare truth 😉 and off to Lidl—I have it now too. I already owned the previous model as an assistant, my Monsi, the budget TM 😀

You can buy my old Monsi as an entry-level model; it’s even a bit smaller than the new one or the TM 🙂

Kitchen: juicer on the left, paper towel roll, pot, black plate with white leaf design in front of yellow wall.
