Hello everyone,

Today, the long-awaited masonry work finally started. When we visited the construction site this evening to check the progress, we noticed the following.

Red concrete form tube lying next to gray polystyrene block at construction site, dusty

Could someone help me understand if this is a serious issue that requires action? Or is it just the protective covering of the actual pipe and therefore not a problem? I would really appreciate some support on this topic.

Best regards and many thanks!

You should take a close look at this.
Normally, it’s done like this: the sewer pipe (KG) is connected with the socket at the top edge of the concrete slab and sealed with a cap. This way, you can cleanly level the concrete slab without anything in the way. Afterwards, you remove the cap and connect the next pipe to the socket.
It’s possible that in your case it was done similarly but not sealed with a cap (maybe because none was left), and instead a short piece of sewer pipe was inserted, which can be simply replaced for further connections.
However, you need to check this.
If not, a section around the pipe may need to be uncovered again to make further connections. I can’t really imagine that, as the installation direction would have been planned incorrectly from the start in that case.

Is there another pipe inside the sewer pipe (that taped part)? If so, I would guess that the sewer pipe is just serving as protection for the actual pipe. At first glance, the inner part definitely looks like a taped sleeve. The size could also correspond to the diameter of a kitchen drain pipe.

The original poster mentioned a water pipe. The KG pipe is likely intended only as a conduit. The construction management will know.

As you correctly suspect, it is most likely just a "protective pipe" surrounding the actual drain pipe.
