ᐅ KfW 40 house with gas boiler

Hello,

we are planning to build a KfW40 house. Is this fundamentally possible using solid construction along with a gas boiler?

I am thinking of building a highly energy-efficient house: well insulated, with a ventilation system, solar collectors, and a wood stove connected to the heating system. The gas boiler would serve as the main heating source and for domestic hot water. I am considering replacing the gas boiler in 15-20 years, for example with a geothermal borehole system.

Is this heating concept reasonable, or should I reconsider it?

Looking forward to an active discussion.

Additional information: the reason for the KfW40 standard, besides the high energy efficiency, is the exemption of 10% of the loan for a single-family house with a secondary apartment = 10,000 €.

Very strange, who gave that advice? Pellet heating systems benefit from a favorable primary energy factor. This is quite relevant when submitting an application for a building permit / planning permission. However, the operator still has to pay for the final energy consumption!

Hello €uro,

Our architect is an energy consultant and gave us this information.

I haven’t really delved deeply into the subject or regulations, as I’m quite satisfied with the pellet heating system.

Gas as a fossil fuel is supposedly not an option for us (due to the location of the house, the associated energy balance related to primary energy, and the inability to use solar energy).

I was able to verify some of our architect’s calculations online, so I trust him in this regard.

This changes the situation somewhat and does not align with the general statement:
.....to my knowledge, a gas condensing boiler is not possible in the case of a KFW40 house due to the CO2 balance. !
Specific conditions are always decisive.
For economic reasons, I would usually prefer a fully modulating air-source heat pump over a pellet heating system, provided the conditions are right.
