I am using the KfW 261 subsidy for my major renovation.
As part of this, the existing oil central heating system will be replaced with a heat pump.

I would like to dismantle the old oil heating system myself.
Is this allowed, or does the subsidy require that a professional company carries out the work?

We transferred the remaining heating oil to the rental property, sold the oil heater through small ads for several hundred euros plus self-removal, and gave away the emptied heating oil tanks for pickup. The latter was only possible because the house was being demolished and the tanks could be lifted out of the basement in one piece. Alternatively, giving away the leftover heating oil in exchange for dismantling the old tanks would also have been an option.

We had checked beforehand whether, as private individuals, we were allowed to do all this ourselves, which is of course a prerequisite. The energy consultant usually only confirms at the end whether the funding targets have been met.
