Hello,
does anyone have experience with keyless entry systems for the house? For example, a fingerprint scanner, keypad, or a key fob/transponder in the pocket to open the front door?

I found the solution with the decentralized server so poor that I decided against it—not because of security concerns, but what if the company no longer exists? Especially since you depend on their availability—see the recent telecom disaster with their smart home system....If it should be available over the internet, you need the Busch & Jäger server, which has never failed so far. But currently, I only run it via Wi-Fi—you don’t need any third-party providers; it works solely through your home automation system!
That’s why I’m independent within my Wi-Fi range, which extends exactly up to the front door. The IP gateway costs less than 300 €.
Addendum:
Regarding a door without a lock… I personally would never do that! I always want to be able to enter the house using the good old key if needed. Our front door doesn’t have a motorized lock either, just a door buzzer. If I lock the front door and try to open it via the app, I can’t do that anymore either. But I don’t see that as a disadvantage.

Sebastian791 Oct 2015 09:58I understood the term "company server" to mean a server operated by the manufacturing company.
I was not convinced by the quality of the Busch & Jäger camera—especially since I still believe it is hosted on their server. But I could be wrong...
EDIT: Ah, now I see—I missed the part about the Wi-Fi. However, I wanted a solution that allows me to open the door from anywhere, which is not practical for me if limited to inside the house.
As I said, we have other locks elsewhere, so it didn’t matter to me that the front door has no lock, which looks nice visually.
@alexm86: This is the only company that offers everything I wanted and also accommodates additional requests—I have already been in contact with all well-known providers; many cannot deliver, and the results often don’t look good visually (GIRA is particularly bad in this regard).
Their prices sound quite high, but the others charge more for less—still, it’s not an inexpensive option.

So, we are getting a fingerprint system. In case of a power outage or system failure, the door can be opened with a key. Otherwise, the system operates via Wi-Fi (so the door can be opened using an app) or with the fingerprint scanner at the front door. It costs about 1500 euros (approximately $1600) for new constructions, including wiring and installation.
