Hello everyone,
we are currently renovating a house built in 1978, specifically working on several rooms inside.

When the house was constructed, the rooms were insulated from the inside with 5cm (2 inches) of polystyrene.
As part of the renovation, additional insulation will also be added from the outside—10cm (4 inches) of mineral wool or an equivalent perimeter insulation for the basement.

My question is whether the internal insulation should be removed in the rooms where this is possible?
Nowadays, this is generally no longer done and can have some drawbacks regarding mounting shelves or similar fixtures.
Or is it advisable to keep the internal insulation in place?

Best regards,
Christian
