Hello,
we want to replace the wooden windows in our house.
The new windows will be white on the inside and anthracite on the outside.
Four years ago, we upgraded our external roller shutters to motorized versions (4 units, about 3800 euros), which are completely white.
The old white external roller shutters would be mounted on the new anthracite frames.
What do you think, how would that look?
New external roller shutters in anthracite cost about 3000 euros more.
Is it possible to replace the new external roller shutters after a few years, considering that the old roller shutters left holes in the frames?
What would you do: keep the old white shutters or get new ones?
Our total budget is 18,000 euros for new floor-to-ceiling windows (Schüco), window sills, insect screens, insulation for the roller shutter boxes, 4 new aluminum roller shutter slats, and 6 external roller shutters. All motorized by Somfy with timers.
Everything includes installation, disposal, and electrical work.
Some windows will have laminated glass and soundproof glazing.
What do you think about the price?
Please no pointless answers.
Thank you.
Happy Easter

Then you have already provided the answer about the price yourself. Someone has to install the windows after all. It’s unlikely to get cheaper. Of course, the company has to work neatly. Unfortunately, you can’t know that in advance unless you know satisfied customers.
I would keep the roller shutters. If the white tracks are bothersome, they can still be painted after installation. The old external roller shutters will be mounted onto the new windows.
If we want to replace the external roller shutters later, are there any disadvantages?
Especially if the windows have to be drilled again?

Myrna_Loy5 Apr 2021 14:34Are wooden windows being used again??? I would never paint wooden windows dark for durability reasons.

I would never paint wooden windows dark for durability reasons. No, those are the old windows in the picture. They were painted anthracite back then.
If we replace them, they will be uPVC windows.
