Hello everyone,
We are planning to equip our new IKEA kitchen with a Karlby walnut worktop. Could you please share your experiences regarding durability and quality?
So far, we have a Resopal worktop, which is very low-maintenance and durable. Now I’m concerned that the wooden worktop might show wear quickly. What do you think?

Thanks for your answers!

Have a nice weekend,
Joschka

Hello, when I think about the stubborn stain that raspberry juice left recently on my oiled wooden cutting board, I definitely don’t want a countertop with a wood veneer. The surface is definitely more sensitive to moisture compared to an HPL (high-pressure laminate) coated one.

How much worse must it be with a particleboard core?

Hello IKEA expert,
Thank you for the assessment. We would prefer to use a plastic-coated board after all. Unfortunately, the IKEA assembly service does not cut "external" boards.
