Hello everyone,

I recently ordered a KALLAX cabinet, which was delivered to me during winter. Unfortunately, after unpacking, I noticed small but clearly visible cracks in several wooden panels. Now I’m wondering if others have had similar experiences:

Have you ever received KALLAX furniture that was damaged by cracks in the panels during transport or specifically due to cold or moisture in winter conditions?

I’m especially interested in whether this is a common issue, how to prevent panel cracks, or if it might be related to storage conditions or packaging.

I would appreciate any experiences, tips for protecting against such damage, and advice on claims. Thanks in advance!

If you attribute the panel damage to transportation, you should act quickly. This is usually a matter for the retailer or the shipping company. It is best to contact them immediately and have photos ready.

For protection: KALLAX furniture is not very resistant to moisture or cold. Therefore, I recommend paying attention to better packaging or shipping conditions for your next purchase.

Hey Giseri,

I’m familiar with KALLAX panel distortions after winter transport—definitely frustrating! 😕 But don’t get discouraged. I’ve thought about fixing minor damage using wood filler and fine sandpaper.

Sometimes you can still save it, even if it won’t be perfect.

If you want to repair it, I’m happy to help with advice! And next time, try to schedule transport for spring or summer if possible; that can really make a difference 🙂

Let the furniture piece acclimate slowly after delivery

Thank you very much for the tip; that really makes sense. I placed the KALLAX directly into the cool room, which might have put even more stress on the material.

If you want, I can help you with a more detailed complaint formulation!

That would be great, I want to describe the damage as professionally as possible to avoid any issues.

Additionally, I’m wondering: What is the usual claim period for such damages? And how exactly should I describe the cracks to prevent any misunderstandings?

I’m looking forward to more tips!
