Hello everyone, I’m currently preparing for my move and have fully disassembled an IKEA KALLAX shelf unit, including the doors. My question is: what is the best way to store the individual KALLAX parts to prevent damage during the move? I’m interested in both packaging options and storage tips, for example, whether and how the doors should be protected, or if it’s better to stack the parts or store them flat. It would also be helpful if anyone could share practical experience with KALLAX furniture during moves, especially regarding stability and protection. Thanks in advance for your help!
Bubble wrap provides better protection against scratches and impacts, especially for doors with high-gloss finishes. Laminate is somewhat more durable, so thick blankets are usually sufficient. If you want to reduce costs, I would at least wrap the corners additionally with some bubble wrap, while the rest can be covered with blankets or furniture fabrics. This effectively protects the most sensitive areas.

Put screws and small fittings into separate bags and attach them to a matching part or store them in a labeled containerThat sounds very practical! I will do it that way to make sure nothing gets lost. Does anyone have suggestions on the best way to pack or store the back panels to prevent them from bending or breaking?
The back panels of the KALLAX are usually thin hardboard panels and relatively fragile. It is best to store them flat and protected between stable, even surfaces. If this is not possible, they can also be leaned against a wall, with the surface covered by cardboard or soft material. For transportation in a moving truck, do not place heavy objects on the back panels.
