I recently renovated my apartment, including fresh paintwork and some dust on the floor. During this, my IKEA KALLAX shelf unfortunately became quite dusty, and the fine renovation dust seems almost embedded on the surfaces. I want to clean the shelf carefully without damaging the surface or encouraging dust to stick again later.
My question is: What is the best method to clean a KALLAX shelf after renovation work so that fine dust is effectively removed without harming the surface? After the initial cleaning, I recommend regularly wiping the KALLAX with a dry microfiber cloth to prevent dust from settling. It is especially important to pay attention to the corners and edges, where dust tends to accumulate more.
For further renovations, it can be helpful to cover furniture or use protective sheets to keep dust away from surfaces more effectively.

A quick update from me: I used the vacuum cleaner with the brush attachment, then gently wiped with a microfiber cloth lightly dampened with water.
The result is very good – the fine dust is gone, and the surface looks unchanged. I deliberately avoided using vinegar to be completely sure.
