ᐅ KALLAX doors splintering the first time they are opened – have you filed a complaint?

Hello everyone,

I recently bought a KALLAX shelf unit from Ikea with the matching doors, and to my surprise, when I opened the new doors for the very first time, I noticed that the edges were actually chipping – the surface is peeling off, and it looks very untidy. I’m curious if anyone else has had similar experiences? How did you deal with this issue? Did you file a claim for the doors, and if so, how well or poorly was the process handled?

I’m asking specifically because I expected better quality and am generally interested in how Ikea handles claims in cases of such material defects.

Thanks in advance for your opinions and advice!

Check this carefully on site or upon receipt

Thanks for the tip, I will do that.

I have now sent the email to Ikea with all the required attachments. I will get back to you once I receive a reply.

Until then, I hope the process will be straightforward.

Fingers crossed that it works out quickly! IKEA’s support can be somewhat bureaucratic, but it’s not unfriendly.

It’s worth staying persistent, and if there are any issues, it’s best to visit the store directly.

Looking forward to your update 🙂

Hello everyone,

a quick final update: Ikea accepted my complaint and sent me two new doors free of charge, which I received and installed yesterday. The new doors currently look perfect, with no chips or defects.

The process went surprisingly smoothly, and the customer service was friendly and accommodating. The replacement was faster than expected.

Thanks again to everyone who shared their experiences and tips!
