Hello everyone,
I have a Kallax shelf from Ikea at home, which I fitted with doors. Unfortunately, whenever a window or the front door is opened, a draft moves through the apartment and causes the Kallax doors to slam shut loudly. This is not only annoying but can also strain the door hinges over time.
My question is: What are effective ways to dampen or prevent the Kallax doors from slamming shut due to drafts?
I have already considered door or furniture dampers but am unsure which type of solution is best suited for the rather lightweight doors and how to install them properly. Are there simple, cost-effective methods that can help as well?
I look forward to your tips, experiences, and any recommendations for products that have proven particularly effective.

…What are effective ways to reduce the slamming of Kallax doors caused by drafts?…Hello, I recommend the following approach:
1. First, check all hinges to ensure they are securely fixed and not loose.
2. Then, attach small self-adhesive felt or rubber bumpers to the inside of the door where it meets the shelving unit.
3. If that is not sufficient, you can additionally install magnetic catches – these keep the doors gently closed without allowing them to slam shut.
These measures are cost-effective and have proven reliable in similar cases over the years. I also use this method with my Kallax shelves and no longer have any issues with doors slamming.
