ᐅ Kallax doors are hitting the wall – how can I install bumpers?

Hello everyone,
I have the following issue: I’m using the Ikea Kallax shelving unit with doors, but the door fronts sometimes hit the adjacent wall when opening or closing. This is not only annoying but could also cause long-term damage to the doors or the wall. I want to install bumpers or dampers to prevent the impact, but I’m unsure which type of bumper is best suited for this and how they should ideally be mounted.
Specifically: Which bumpers are recommended in terms of material and design for Kallax doors? Should they be attached to the inside of the door, the wall, or the shelving frame? And are there any special tips for mounting to ensure the solution is both stable and visually appealing?
I look forward to your experience and recommendations!

It is also important that you thoroughly clean the surfaces before installationThat sounds reasonable, thanks for the tip. Is it sufficient to simply clean the surface with isopropanol? Or is there anything else I should consider to ensure the adhesive of the buffers really holds?

For a secure hold, I recommend high-quality self-adhesive pads from reputable manufacturers designed specifically for furniture – these usually have a strong special adhesive.
If you need more stability, screw fasteners are an option, but with thin drywall (plasterboard) this is often not practical.

I know that problem very well! I use these small yellow silicone bumpers – they’re great! They’re easy to install, and nothing hits the wall anymore! 🙂
Also really useful: If you adjust the hinges a bit, you can almost perfectly align the door. It’s so satisfying when the door finally closes quietly and smoothly! Good luck, it’s pretty easy to do!

Is it enough to simply clean the surface with isopropanol?Yes, isopropanol is ideal because it evaporates quickly and leaves no residue. It is also important to clean not only the inside of the door but also the area of the wall or shelf where you plan to attach the buffers.

I have these small yellow silicone dampers on mine – they’re great! That’s true, the yellow dampers are often from Ikea and match the look of Kallax well. Do you know if yours are glued or attached with screws?
Additionally, I would suggest considering the door hinges themselves – some Kallax doors can be retrofitted with soft-close fittings that completely prevent slamming.
How have you been opening the door so far? Like with a soft-close system already, or more roughly?
