Hello everyone,
I have an issue with my IKEA Kallax doors: they seem to close properly only on one side. On one side, the door almost closes by itself, but on the other side, I have to push it firmly to get it to close. This is quite annoying because I’m worried that the hinges might get damaged over time or eventually not hold properly.
Maybe someone has experience with this issue? Are there any tips or adjustments to balance the doors so they close easily from both sides without force? I’ve already tried adjusting the hinges slightly, but that hasn’t helped much so far.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

It's great that you described the problem so precisely! 🙂 I once had the same issue with my Kallax shelf, and in fact, it was often due to the hinges, which can be easily adjusted! Check if you can find the small screws on the hinges – usually there are two: one for depth and one for height.
Sometimes just a little turn is enough to make the door close much more smoothly.
Don't get discouraged! You’ll definitely manage it. Keep at it, and it will get better! 🙂

Try checking if you can find the small screws on the hingesThat’s a great tip, thanks! I once had an issue with cabinet doors closing unevenly, and it can be really frustrating when you don’t exactly know where to start.
Are there possibly different hinge models for Kallax? That might explain why adjusting sometimes doesn’t work as expected.
Maybe Raiden can share whether he uses different hinges or retrofit parts? In any case, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the problem can be solved!

Unfortunately, I can’t seem to get the settings right because the problem persists. The hinge on one side feels tighter, while everything on the other side is loose, but the door still doesn’t close properly.

Does anyone have experience with compatible hinges for Kallax? Or is it better to order original replacement parts directly from IKEA?
Hey Raiden, that sounds really annoying when one door is almost in the perfect position and the other one is more difficult. 🙂
I had something similar and simply tried removing the doors along with the hinges completely, then tightened all the screws properly – after that, both doors worked fine again and closed in sync. Sometimes the screws just aren’t tight enough anymore, which causes that wobbly problem.
If that doesn’t help, you can also try sticking felt or rubber strips on the inside of the frame so the door doesn’t “bang” as much and fits more snugly.
Good luck! 😉
