Hello everyone, I have a question about the KALLAX doors from IKEA and their warranty: Has anyone had experience with how IKEA handles the replacement of doors if they have a manufacturing defect or transport damage? Specifically, I’m interested in how straightforward or complicated the process is, whether IKEA simply replaces the doors, if returning them is difficult, or if you might end up covering the costs yourself. It would also be helpful to know how long the warranty on KALLAX doors lasts, and if the terms differ in any way from other IKEA products. Thanks in advance for your insights!

That doesn’t sound as bad as you might expect from IKEA products sometimes. By the way, I changed my KALLAX doors on my own because I didn’t like the color anymore 🙂

But joking aside – if anyone has a warranty issue and is being difficult, just stay polite; it often helps.

I’m glad IKEA is cooperating. Hopefully it stays that way! :-)

On the topic: IKEA does actually replace defective KALLAX doors under warranty—I experienced this myself with a seal. No shipping issues, no return necessary.

To answer your question, @rorobert: I contacted customer service by email. After about 3 days, I received a confirmation, and within a week, the new door arrived by courier. So the entire replacement process was completed within 10 days.

It is correct that, in my case, they did not explicitly require a return shipment. I didn’t have to print any return labels or anything like that.

I was also advised to keep the defective door in case it needed to be collected – but that was not necessary in the end.

I once had an issue with a KALLAX door, and IKEA responded quickly by replacing the part. In case of warranty, no return shipment is required; the process is straightforward.

I agree, the exchange process at IKEA works well. Important: be sure to report any defects immediately, not after several months. I was lucky, as I was able to have two doors replaced without any problems.

That is a good reference point, thank you. However, it’s important to always keep in mind that experiences may vary.

definitely report the defect immediately

In my opinion, that is the most important tip to ensure a successful warranty process.
