ᐅ Using Kallax as a TV stand – has anyone experienced vibration issues?

CIHANHello everyone, I’m considering using my Kallax shelf as a TV stand, mainly for aesthetic reasons and storage space. However, I’m concerned about potential vibration issues. Has anyone experienced vibrations or slight wobbling caused by the TV or speakers on the Kallax that could be annoying while watching or make the shelf unstable? I’m especially interested in specific feedback, preferably including information about the TV size, whether soundbars or speakers are used, and how strong the vibrations are perceived. Thanks in advance!
The Kallax units are quite sturdy but are not designed as TV stands with specialized damping. With heavy or large TVs, slight vibrations may occur, especially when speakers play bass-heavy music or sounds.
Regarding stability: it helps to place the Kallax directly on the floor without casters and, if necessary, to use self-adhesive felt pads underneath to reduce resonant vibrations. Whether vibration problems are bothersome also depends on the type of speakers – a soundbar with a subwoofer more often causes noticeable vibrations than a TV alone.
If strongly disturbing vibrations occur, additional damping is recommended, for example with rubber pads, or a more stable base under the speakers.

From my experience, I can add that the individual shelves in the Kallax have a limited load capacity. Placing the TV directly on one of the shelves can affect stability and may increase vibrations.
For speakers: they should be placed on separate absorbers if the bass is very strong.
A tip: Reinforcing the back with angle brackets or metal braces can make the unit significantly more stable and thus reduce the sensation of vibrations.

So, I have the Kallax with a 43-inch TV and a small soundbar on top. Vibrations? Hardly any, but when the bass is really turned up, you can feel a slight “shaking” ;-) However, for me, it’s not a problem at all, almost kind of charming. I put felt pads under the soundbar, which helps dampen the vibrations well.
You have to keep in mind that the Kallax is simply not solid wood – that was actually part of its appeal for me: lightweight, flexible, and visually appealing!
If it really bothers you, I would definitely recommend placing rubber pads or additional absorbers under the speakers.

Yay, I love my Kallax TV stand! Nothing wobbles, even when I turn up the bass on my system all the way 🙂
I don’t think you should expect a Kallax to feel like a heavy high-end TV cabinet, but for the price and simplicity, it’s really awesome!
Just put felt pads under the stand and place the speakers and TV on top – it holds up great. And if something does vibrate now and then, that’s just a sign the playlist is going strong 😉
