Hello everyone,
I am considering using a KALLAX shelving system as a room divider in my apartment because it allows flexible separation of spaces. However, I am concerned because I have pets, specifically a playful cat and a medium-sized dog. Do you have any experience with whether a KALLAX room divider might tip over if animals jump on it or run into it?
I am especially interested in how stable the shelving is for this kind of use and whether additional measures are needed to prevent it from tipping. Looking forward to your opinions, tips, and experiences!

KALLAX shelves are generally sturdy, but without securing them to the wall, they can tip over if there is wild animal behaviorThat’s exactly right! Wall mounting really acts like an extra bodyguard. I arranged it so that I placed a heavier weight on one side, which helps when the cat runs at the shelf at full speed again 😉
I love using the KALLAX as a room divider! And my two cats really enjoy it – jumping on it, climbing, and hiding inside. 🤩 But honestly, without securing it to the wall, it would have been a disaster.
That’s why I firmly fixed the shelf to the wall and also placed some heavy books at the bottom. Now it’s rock solid! This way, I get a perfect separation and my pets are happy too. So: definitely secure it to the wall—that’s absolutely essential. Good luck!

Finally, here’s my two cents: The KALLAX is great as a room divider – as long as it’s securely fixed in place 😊. Be sure to fasten it and add some weight at the bottom to prevent it from tipping over.
Cats, in particular, are quick and use any starting point to jump off. But with a bit of preparation, it works perfectly. And hey, who wouldn’t want a stylish room divider that also appeals to their furry roommates?
