Hello everyone,
Our house is designed with a cold roof.
Since we want to have the equipment (heating and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery) in the attic, we are additionally insulating the attic ourselves, on top of the insulated upper floor ceiling.
I am now considering installing a small access window. My main concerns are the satellite dish, possibly replacing damaged roof tiles, and maybe bringing some light into the dark attic...
Does this access window need to be insulated? The attic will NOT be heated. It will only be kept frost-free so that the equipment can be installed up there.
Will cold air come into the attic through the small window, or will I have increased heat loss?
