Hello everyone,
we are currently planning our bathroom in the new build. I find an in-wall installation for the bathtub very appealing. However, I would prefer not to completely conceal the entire hose.
I’m not sure if I understood this correctly, but is it possible to convert almost any bathtub so that the water supply comes through the overflow?
This way, you could save a faucet on the wall. Do you have any advice on this?

Or would it be better to choose an exposed installation, so that in case of potential issues, you are better prepared and don’t have to tear everything open?

Yes, the water supply can also be routed through the bathtub. But do you want to do without the handheld shower then?

every tub needs to be converted like that,

Nothing is being converted here; that is a feature of some tubs (integrated spout).

Exactly, so the answer is "no," you can’t simply modify every bathtub. It has to be a bathtub with an (optional) integrated water inlet.

Personally, I am not a fan of concealed faucets. They are not easy to maintain, and I don’t find them high quality (I know I might be alone with that opinion). However, when looking for a bathtub faucet, we simply failed because all options protruded from the wall like bumps and could get in the way while bathing. That’s why we chose an integrated water inlet. I hope it holds up.

Thank you for your answers. I thought of the idea with the inlet because there are connection fittings like that from almost every company online. So it sounded to me like it could be “converted” that way, of course before the actual installation.
When I now search for bathtubs with an integrated inlet, these are immediately much more expensive. That’s why I’m confused.

I also want to have a handheld shower.

How else could this be done? I’m not really a fan of the original "simple" surface-mounted faucet.
Thanks again
