ᐅ Is this a concrete carport? Or is it made of wood or aluminum?

Hello dear forum,

can someone tell me what type of construction this kind of carport is and which suppliers offer it?
We want a width of 7m (23 feet) since our entrance is on the side and we don’t want the cars directly in front of the house. Is it still possible without middle supports?

I really like the look. A wooden carport doesn’t seem to suit our shed roof, and we don’t like aluminum either.

What is the approximate price range for something like this?
Width 7m (23 feet), length 7m (23 feet) or 8m (26 feet)

Kind regards and have a nice weekend!

He was only concerned about the price; we will likely incur costs of around 30,000 to 35,000 euros for this small gimmick.

So you would place a single carport on the property boundary and only a parking space between the carport and the house?

Honestly, that looks really poor if the entire front yard is taken up by a carport. I don’t understand the planning at all. People want natural light and want to step out of the house into daylight, not just on the terrace side. Over the course of the year, the entrance area is used more often than the garden.

I always say: losing one meter (3 feet) at the back is hardly noticeable. But if it’s missing at the front, it’s too late and causes daily dissatisfaction.

A window under the carport might be possible, but only as a last resort. No matter how dark your apartment is, humans need light!

Also, you want easy access to the front door. Guests too... it’s hardly practical to go between parked cars.

Since the door isn’t visible either, the basement apartment is mistaken for your main entrance.

But that’s all off-topic.

30-35k just for the plaster finish? Wow...

I agree with you to some extent. It’s not exactly attractive, but the plot size and dimensions don’t allow for much more.
I don’t find it perfect either.
Leaving a car outside is also a poor solution that will always be annoying.
It’s also unfortunate that our front door is so hidden. But I think if you want to have one, you explain it the first time, and you don’t want “donation collectors.”

A carport can only be placed next to or in front of the house. And if it’s in front, there isn’t much yard space left in the back.

The basement apartment has many south-facing windows. Natural light is very important in the living room and kitchen.
But in the bedroom, you’re only there at night, and bathrooms are often located internally without windows or with frosted glass.

Your 20 x 30 meter (66 x 98 feet) lot with the south-facing side could allow for very different possibilities. Here, it would be possible to place a double carport on the north side. The simplest option would be to move the main house 3 meters (10 feet) south. This way, the west terrace and garden would also benefit from the southern sunlight. No loss of lot space, more usable space in the yard. So only advantages, as long as the floor plan allows. But that could be planned.
You know we provide advice and suggestions here… before the building permit / planning permission is submitted.

It may be a poor solution, but it’s feasible, common, and something that doesn’t negatively affect daily life (apart from a few scratches per year).

Modesty doesn’t mean stupidity, especially when you consider how many cars have no roof at all.

Modesty isn’t the same as stupidity, especially considering how many cars are driven without a roof at all.

... and think of all the things you could buy for the house or garden with the money saved. I would immediately swap an expensive carport or garage for a nice swimming pool in the garden...
