My specific question is: Is there a simple and stable way to install casters on a Besta shelf without making major modifications to the furniture or compromising its stability? I’ve seen that casters are available for purchase, but I’m wondering how to attach them most effectively, whether special adapters are needed, or if there are alternatives like casters with mounting plates. It would be great if you could share your experiences or tips regarding the selection and installation of casters on a Besta.
I just wanted to say that I recently did the same and was initially skeptical about the stability. I bought caster wheels with mounting plates that can be swapped out using the screws from the original feet. It works great—the shelving unit moves easily but still stands firmly. However, you need to be careful when moving it to avoid uneven weight distribution, otherwise it sometimes creaks slightly. Overall, it has significantly increased the flexibility of the space for me!
