Hello everyone, I am about to assemble my Ikea Brimnes wardrobe myself and wonder if there is a simple and effective way to make the process easier. I have already looked through the instructions, but I find them somewhat confusing at times—especially when it comes to assembling the wardrobe sides and drawers. My question is directed to anyone who has already built the Brimnes: Are there any tips or approaches that have proven particularly helpful to assemble the wardrobe safely and with minimal stress? I am especially interested in advice regarding tools, preparation, and potential pitfalls to avoid. Thanks in advance!

One more question: Are you planning to assemble the structure on your own or will you have help? Sometimes having two people is much more practical.I plan to handle the assembly by myself since I’m usually working at home without assistance. That’s why I inquired about simpler methods to make the process more efficient when working alone. Are there any special tips for handling heavier components on your own? I imagine that assembling the walls and aligning them properly might be especially challenging without a second person.
I appreciate your advice regarding tool selection and scheduling, and I want to make sure I avoid getting stuck partway through the build because of installing a component incorrectly.

Are there any special tricks for handling heavier components more easily?Yes, I understand that well. When assembling on your own, I recommend building the large components, like the side panels, first against a wall or in a corner. This provides stability and keeps the pieces in place while you screw them together. Many people use a second sturdy surface, such as a table or a box, as a temporary support.
For the heavier parts, it can be helpful to use special clamps if you have them; they are usually affordable at hardware stores. These hold the parts together and free up your hands.
Also, when screwing pieces in, avoid applying too much pressure, as screws tend to get stuck or cross-thread, especially with IKEA furniture if the parts don’t fit exactly.

A screwdriver with a magnetic tip makes handling small screws much easier. That tip is invaluable, especially if you are working alone and the screws tend to fall.
I would also add that it’s best to initially tighten the screws only lightly and fully tighten them only after the entire assembly is complete. This way, you can still make adjustments if there are any fitting inaccuracies.
A stable, flat work surface is very helpful as it prevents misalignment and crooked components. Brimnes is generally well-designed, but especially with lightweight construction panels, careful handling is important.
