Hello everyone, I am currently facing the challenge of assembling an Ikea Brimnes wardrobe – but without the original instructions, as I unfortunately misplaced them. My question to the community is: Is there a complete and reliable guide or a detailed step-by-step explanation for assembling the Ikea BRIMNES wardrobe, especially one that does not rely on the original Ikea document? I don’t need general tips, but rather as much concrete information as possible about which parts should be assembled in which order, which tools are useful, and what potential pitfalls to watch out for when working without the official instructions. Maybe there are user-generated assembly guides or well-documented experience reports. Thanks for your support!
A brief guide based on my experience: 1. Unpack all parts and lay them out side by side, sorted by size and function. 2. Pre-sort the wooden dowels and screws according to the labels. 3. Connect the side panels using dowels (pay attention to the top and bottom sides). 4. Align and attach the back panel – it provides the stability of the cabinet. 5. Install the shelves – usually screwed in or simply slotted. 6. Attach the doors last, carefully aligning the hinges. Pay special attention to the direction of the edges – they are not symmetrical, and incorrect alignment will cause problems!
I can't replace an official manual, but I would recommend having the necessary tools ready: besides standard screwdrivers, a cordless drill can be useful if used carefully. It's also important to tighten all screws only by hand at first and then fully tighten them at the end to avoid assembly errors. If you take it step by step and do it carefully, you should manage well. Let me know if anything is unclear—I’m happy to help!

If you don’t have instructions, it’s not a big deal! Just sort the parts and see how the dowels and screws fit together. Thanks for the optimism! That actually helps me a lot to get a visual idea. I have all the parts in front of me, and you’re right—the dowel holes do make things clearer. I’m just wondering if there is a specific order for assembling the Brimnes doors, or if the hinges are identical on both sides, or if I need to pay attention to a particular orientation?

Especially with such details, I want to assemble everything correctly and as quickly as possible.
The hinges are clearly defined, as confirmed by the installation manual and other users' construction instructions. If they are installed incorrectly, the door will not close. In any case, always attach the hinges to the cabinet inner frame using the guides, not the other way around.

These have a specific installation depth and a positioning that corresponds to the opening angle. It is advisable to attach the hinges to each side first, then align the door, and finally tighten the screws. For precise adjustment, it is helpful to temporarily fix the door, check it, and then fully tighten.
Don't forget: Once the doors are installed, you can often fine-tune the adjustment! Many screws on the hinges can be adjusted slightly if something doesn’t fit. Just keep them loosely screwed in, align the door, and then tighten them at the end. That’s really the trick for a perfect result! 😄👍
