Hello everyone,

I am looking for an app that allows me to specifically design with IKEA Platsa furniture. It is important to me that the app not only lets you place the individual modules but also realistically displays various configurations and customizations. Ideally, the app should also offer the possibility to simulate different dimensions and interior fittings.

Has anyone had experience with such an app? And if so, how advanced are the planning features specifically for Platsa? Many IKEA planning tools seem either too generic or tailored entirely to other series. Thanks in advance for any tips!

What exactly do you want to plan? A whole room or individual PLATSA cabinets? That could help to give a more precise tip.

Thanks for the detailed answer!

I mainly want to plan individual Platsa cabinets for my living room, combining several frames to create a customized storage system. What matters most to me are the exact dimensions and interior layouts—not just a fixed sequence of modules, but also planning various shelves, doors, and drawer options.

The design should later be realistically visualized to ensure it fits well and looks harmonious. Room layout is less important since I plan to place the cabinet against a free wall.

Hello kosin,

for your project, the IKEA Home Planner is indeed the best choice. There, you can combine several PLATSA modules and configure them with different doors, shelves, or drawers. An important tip: pay attention to the set dimensions, as some modules work in a 1-cm (0.4 inch) grid, which is relevant if you want to plan precisely.

Regarding the visualization, the Home Planner is functional, not high resolution, but sufficient to get a good idea. Additionally, the result is directly compatible with the ordering system.

If you want more detailed visualization, CAD programs with PLATSA models from the web could be an option – but this requires some familiarization.

I agree with many points that have already been mentioned: the official planning for PLATSA is done through the IKEA Home Planner. The focus is on ease of use and realistic visualization.

When it comes to flexible module adjustments, using a combination of several programs or even a sketch can sometimes be more effective.

It is important to carefully compare the planning measurements before purchasing, as online planners can occasionally have rounding errors in the visualization.

I am not aware of a specific app designed exclusively for PLATSA. I simply use the IKEA Home Planner online, which covers it quite well.
