Hello everyone,

I am looking for an app that allows me to specifically design with IKEA Platsa furniture. It is important to me that the app not only lets you place the individual modules but also realistically displays various configurations and customizations. Ideally, the app should also offer the possibility to simulate different dimensions and interior fittings.

Has anyone had experience with such an app? And if so, how advanced are the planning features specifically for Platsa? Many IKEA planning tools seem either too generic or tailored entirely to other series. Thanks in advance for any tips!

Unfortunately, there is no dedicated app from IKEA specifically for the PLATSA system. However, the IKEA Planning Tool on their website includes PLATSA as an option. It is best to use the IKEA Home Planner online.

Hello kosin,

First, regarding your question: Official IKEA apps generally focus more on kitchens, cabinets, or entire rooms, and PLATSA coverage is somewhat limited. The IKEA Home Planner mentioned by KLO-KA does support PLATSA, but it is more browser-based than a standalone app.

If flexibility and realistic visualization are important to you, you might consider experimenting with third-party programs that import or recreate the PLATSA system, but support for these can be inconsistent.

I would recommend sticking to IKEA’s website or official tools to avoid compatibility issues.

Hey kosin!

I’m a big fan of IKEA plans, and PLATSA is really great for getting creative! 😊 I mostly use the IKEA Home Planner you mentioned – it works quite well for PLATSA, even though it can be a bit slow at times. But when it comes to precise measurements and custom configurations, you can do a lot with it! Give it a try!

You just need to get the hang of it a bit, but it’s definitely worth it! Good luck with your project!

Hello kosin!

Oh, I love PLATSA, it’s such a cool modular system! 😎 As for the apps, IKEA doesn’t exactly make it easy. There is the online planner, but a convenient app? Not really. However, for some fun and inspiration, the online tool is completely sufficient, and then just holding the screen up to a tablet temporarily – and you almost have an app 😉

If you want to try something different: you can also experiment with your own CAD programs, but that takes time! But hey, whatever works for you.

Hello kosin,

Your question is very clearly formulated, which I really appreciate! To answer it thoroughly:

Currently, based on my research, there is no dedicated full-featured app specifically tailored to PLATSA. IKEA integrates the PLATSA system only within their generic Home Planner, which is web-based. The planner can display all PLATSA modules, including various interior fittings and sizes.

However, it is important to know that precise dimension adjustments often reach their limits. The modularity of PLATSA is extensive, but not every combination is recognized or supported as feasible.

If you want to make very individual customizations, it might be worth using a 3D design tool like SketchUp in parallel (with IKEA PLATSA models imported). This offers greater freedom but is more complex to use and lacks official support.

For everyday use and IKEA ordering, the Home Planner is usually sufficient; the visualizations are solid, though not highly professional.

What exactly do you want to plan? A whole room or individual PLATSA cabinets? That could help make the advice more precise.
