I hope this is the right subforum; if not, please move it.

During a conversation yesterday with my potential plasterer, he advised against using brushed plaster, as it tends to get dirty very quickly.
I should mention that I live in a very quiet area (few cars) with not many trees nearby.
The plaster color will be a gray/ochre shade, so not a dirt-prone white.

Now I have an offer, and he wants an additional charge of €11.36 (+ VAT) per m² (square meter) for the brushed plaster.
This seems quite high to me.
Can anyone estimate if this is realistic or just a price meant to discourage me?

How do you come up with "dents"? The base coat needs to be done properly; otherwise, you will see every "dent" with the broom finish just as much as with the textured finish. I believe, in this respect, you have no advantage with the broom finish.

Unfortunately, you often see "dents" on larger facades, especially when sunlight hits them from the side.

This is because masonry and plastering are crafts rather than industrial products. If you want to avoid seeing imperfections in the walls when illuminated by low-angle light during midday or evening sun, you have to pay considerably more for that extra level of quality.

I actually believe that a broom finish would even emphasize dents. You have lines that are supposed to be straight and more pronounced shadows.
If you want to hide imperfections, you should rather use the traditional German plaster from above or my natural stone look.

Exactly, and these become even more noticeable with a broom finish because the top coat cannot be used to even them out anymore. Especially on large surfaces, the spots where the "broom" is reset are clearly visible...
