Hello everyone,

I recently bought an IKEA Brimnes bedroom furniture set and was wondering if there is a typical assembly time for this kind of furniture. Since the time required to assemble furniture can vary a lot, I am curious: Are there any average estimates for how long it usually takes to put together BRIMNES models, such as the bed, wardrobe, or chest of drawers? I am especially interested in the assembly time alone, without any extra tools or professional installation help. Does anyone have specific time estimates or tips on how the process goes? Thanks for your feedback!

An average time can certainly be estimated when considering multiple experiences. Many users report assembly times ranging from 60 to 120 minutes depending on the piece of furniture. Although this is not a strict standard, it provides a practical guideline that can help with planning.

For additional support, I would like to point out that a systematic approach to assembly saves a significant amount of time. My recommendation is to first lay out all screws and parts, then sort them according to the different construction stages. It also helps to work with two people, as some steps require actual lifting or holding. On average, I spent about 1 to 1.5 hours assembling Brimnes dressers, and around 2 hours for the bed. If you have never assembled furniture of this type before, you should allow 20-30% more time.

That’s already quite helpful as a guideline. I think I will plan for more time accordingly and especially try to check all parts in advance. I’m also curious: Are there any specific areas or components of BRIMNES that are particularly time-consuming due to their complexity? Such tips could improve the planning even more.

Based on my experience, the biggest time consumers with BRIMNES are the drawers, especially the drawer slides, which need to be precisely adjusted. The sprung slats in the bed should not be underestimated either, as they require some patience and skill. I recommend paying close attention to these parts during assembly to avoid mistakes that can cost more time later on. Ultimately, it’s better to take a bit more time and work thoroughly so that the total assembly time doesn’t increase unnecessarily.
