Hello everyone,

I recently bought an IKEA Brimnes bedroom furniture set and was wondering if there is a typical assembly time for this kind of furniture. Since the time required to assemble furniture can vary a lot, I am curious: Are there any average estimates for how long it usually takes to put together BRIMNES models, such as the bed, wardrobe, or chest of drawers? I am especially interested in the assembly time alone, without any extra tools or professional installation help. Does anyone have specific time estimates or tips on how the process goes? Thanks for your feedback!

Basically, the assembly time for IKEA BRIMNES furniture depends on several factors, including your carpentry experience, the number of helpers, and the tools available. From my experience, most BRIMNES dressers take about 45 to 75 minutes, while larger items like beds can take up to 2 hours. It is important to carefully go through the instructions and sort all parts before starting. I also recommend not rushing the screwing process to avoid mistakes that could increase the overall time needed.

Oh, if you ask me, the typical BRIMNES assembly time is like rolling dice in a board game: sometimes you get lucky, sometimes not! 😄 But seriously, I recently put the bed together with a friend, and we finished in just under 90 minutes. By the way, the fun factor increases if you have a good podcast playing in the background – time flies by. It’s important not to forget breaks; otherwise, the luxury furniture quickly turns into a frustration object.

As an addition: The typical assembly time also depends on whether the model includes drawers or built-in compartments. For example, the BRIMNES chest of drawers requires about 60 minutes to assemble when working with two people, thanks to its precise instructions and clearly labeled parts. The bed frame, due to its size and additional screws, generally takes between 90 and 120 minutes. Assembly times for single individuals will be correspondingly longer. Tools: A Phillips screwdriver and a hex key are usually sufficient.

So I assembled my BRIMNES bed by myself and it took me about 2 hours. However, I always take extra time to work carefully and avoid mistakes. You shouldn’t rush.

I am asking a more critical question: Is it really possible to talk about a ‘typical’ assembly time for BRIMNES? There are significant variables involved, such as personal experience with furniture assembly, possible preparation of the workspace, or interruptions. The level of manufacturing tolerance at IKEA is also important: How precise are the parts really? This, in turn, affects whether improvisation is needed, which creates additional time requirements. Do you have verified figures from a reliable source or just individual reports?
