Hello everyone,
I am planning to get the Ikea PLATSA system for my living space and would like to carry out the planning as precisely as possible digitally beforehand. My question is whether there is a mobile app specifically designed for planning Ikea PLATSA furniture. It is important to me that the app not only allows for simple floor plans but also realistically represents the different modules and their combination options.
I have already tried Ikea’s own planning tool on the website, but it is not very user-friendly on a smartphone. Therefore, I am looking for a mobile alternative, possibly from third-party providers, that is specifically focused on PLATSA or at least on cabinet-like systems.
Does anyone know such apps or have experience with how to efficiently carry out planning on mobile devices? Tips regarding usability and accuracy would also be very helpful.
Thanks in advance!

Alternatively, you can use general room planning apps that allow modular combinations, but these are usually not tailored specifically for PLATSA. Some applications offer design options by allowing you to manually input individual dimensions and components, although this requires significantly more effort.
My recommendation: on mobile devices, it is better to use a tablet version of the Ikea planner or, if possible, use a PC, as the features and user experience are much better there.

I wonder if modular furniture design apps could also be used, even if they don’t have an explicit PLATSA catalog, but allow modules with similar dimensions. That might be a practical solution if you keep the modularity in mind.
Realistically, the IKEA web application remains the standard. It would be interesting to see if improvements for mobile devices will be introduced in the future.
As an addition: I can confirm that there is no dedicated mobile app specifically for PLATSA furniture. The official Ikea website currently remains the best source for this, although it has limitations on smartphones.
For mobile planning, I recommend the following approach:
- Use a tablet with the largest possible screen size to make using the Ikea planner easier.
- If a smartphone is used, generic room planner apps with flexible modules can be an alternative, but the effort involved is higher and the precise fit of components must be checked manually.
For example, applications like Room Planner or similar 3D planners are compatible for rough room design. However, these do not replace the exact dimensions of PLATSA.
In summary, there is no app specifically developed for PLATSA, but with some creativity, technical workarounds are possible, while the official website still provides the most accurate planning.
