Kristinr3024 Apr 2020 10:17Hello everyone, I have been looking into the Ikea Platsa system quite a bit lately and would like to know if there is an official or at least fairly comprehensive list of the most important spare parts. I am especially interested in components like hinges, back panels, connector fittings, or alternative shelves—basically those parts that are most commonly needed due to wear or accidental damage. Perhaps someone here has experience or knows of a resource where these spare parts can be specifically ordered? I’m mainly looking for an overview that makes it easier to quickly identify and reorder the needed parts without having to search through Ikea forever or take the entire furniture apart again. Thanks in advance!
Hey Kristinr30! Great that you brought up this topic here! 😊 A few months ago, I had a lot of trouble with my PLATSA wardrobe too – having a list like that was a huge help for me! Unfortunately, Ikea hasn’t released an official, well-organized spare parts list that includes all the essential components. But the community and various DIY websites offer pretty good collections. Definitely important are: - Hinges and soft-close door dampers - Connector pieces for the modules - Back panels and side panels - Various screws and clips - Mounting brackets and feet If you want, I can send you a compilation I used back then via private message. That really helped me find the right spare parts without having to browse through half of the Ikea online store! Keep at it, you’ll manage! 😎

Unfortunately, Ikea itself has not published an official, well-organized spare parts list that includes all key components. That’s definitely important information, thanks! My concern was that Ikea might offer spare parts through customer service but doesn’t provide a simple overview for subassemblies and individual components—especially when you only need a part of a larger unit.
Do you know of a better source than the official Ikea channels that regularly updates or supplements such collections? Or did you compile your list yourself? Maybe using part numbers from the catalog or from the labels on the furniture? How detailed was your compilation in terms of part descriptions?

I doubt it. Official channels are often not very transparent when it comes to spare parts. At the same time, Ikea is so popular that user-driven platforms frequently provide valuable information. However, one would need to be extremely cautious, as there is no guarantee of completeness or compatibility. In the end, probably only a combination helps: checking the part labels on the furniture, collecting photos and names, and connecting with other PLATSA users in forums or groups.
An official "spare parts list" would be ideal, but is likely not planned according to Ikea’s philosophy in order to avoid sales complexity.

Hello everyone! I find this topic really interesting – because parts lists like these would be invaluable, not just for professionals but also for people like us who prefer fixing things instead of buying new ones 😄
I also created a small overview myself after taking apart my PLATSA shelving unit – for me, the most important takeaway is:
- The parts are not only modular but often compatible with other Ikea systems.
- Whenever I go to Ikea, I always bring parts lists and as precise product names as possible; even the small labels on the packaging are really helpful.
I totally agree with that! 😊
I’d be happy if there was some kind of wiki or database where you could gather spare parts with pictures, numbers, and descriptions – basically a spare parts atlas for PLATSA 😜. But until then, it’s eyes open and taking notes!
