Hello,
I have a question regarding our house construction:

Is the wall penetration sealed properly like this? It doesn’t look perfect to me with the expanding foam. However, maybe this is a common practice? I’m a bit concerned about the waterproofing.

I only know this as a type of conduit through which everything is pulled. This also makes future maintenance easier. They usually have a cover on the outside and can be pulled neatly through the wall. Most of the time, they are additionally insulated. Try searching for “wall penetration heat pump.”

As a layperson, it looks like poor workmanship to me, but whether this is acceptable or if you can request a correction depends on the current standards.

Assuming it looked like this for us (right after installation – so please don’t pay attention to cleanliness or missing insulation), I would probably cause my heating engineer physical pain if he tried to foist such a botched job on me as you have.

I wouldn’t accept it like that either. Someone just took the easy way out and saved money in the process. I would rather take a closer look at the rest as well.

We also received a kind of insulated conduit, which was then plastered over.
