Good evening everyone,
we built a house with Deutsche Fertighaus Holding Allkauf Haus and have a controlled ventilation system (WRL). We have been living in the house for 5 months now, and both of us frequently feel nauseous, have headaches, and burning eyes... I managed to keep the humidity at a maximum of 30% (in winter) using a humidifier. Now it’s around 40%.
In our opinion, the problem is the air quality. We have no idea what it might be. Using a smoke pen, I inspected the ventilation ducts in the house. The site manager initially said that air is extracted from the wet rooms (bathroom and kitchen) and fresh air is supplied to all other rooms.
Here is how it looks in our house:
Exhaust air: guest room (upper floor), office (upper floor), gallery (upper floor), dressing room (upper floor), utility room (ground floor).
Supply air: bedroom (upper floor), bathroom (upper floor), bathroom (ground floor), living room 3x (ground floor), kitchen (ground floor).
Is this correct?
Thanks and best regards

So, fresh air supply in the bathroom? Even though it’s the most humid area? Strange. Don’t you have a planner? Who measured and adjusted the airflow?Planning and execution by Fa. Föll... from Münster. They are partners of Deutsche Fertighaus Holding.
Hi,
Have you tried calling them? Supplying fresh air in the bathroom and kitchen would be very unusual. It must be exhaust air in those areas. For all the other rooms, there might be some debate, but exhaust air is standard there. It could be that someone connected something incorrectly. The eye irritation might be caused by the low humidity; many people are sensitive to that. However, I have my doubts that the headaches are due to negative pressure. There can’t be so much negative pressure that you’d get altitude sickness like a mountain climber, right?
Regards,
Andreas

The bathroom is always ventilated with an exhaust fan to prevent the moist air from being pushed into the whole house.
The system is probably connected the wrong way around. Have you applied for KfW funding? The KfW inspector should have checked the correct setup of the ventilation system after the final inspection.
