MeerMusik29 Nov 2012 12:36Hello forum!
I have already consulted the oracle (Google) but haven't found an answer yet.
I’m looking for a new computer desk and have now ended up considering a dining table corner, as I personally find most standard computer desks too restrictive in terms of movement.
Now I’ve noticed the Torsby model. My question is: Is this dining table or its chipboard surface stable enough to permanently hold an old 18kg (40 lbs) CRT monitor, plus 2kg (4.4 lbs) speakers, as well as a mouse, keyboard, and graphics tablet?
Or should I worry that the chipboard will eventually give way? (The monitor will always be in the same spot and only moved for cleaning.)
Specifically, the model is:
TORSBY
Dining table, chrome, dark brown
Product description & dimensions
Frame:
Main parts: steel, chrome-plated
Feet: polypropylene
Tabletop:
Chipboard, ash veneer, stained, clear acrylic lacquer
If this isn’t suitable, can you recommend a similar model? If nothing like this exists, I would appreciate any tips 🙂
Many thanks
Olli

Have a nice evening.

IkeaJunky5 Dec 2012 09:19The table looks sturdy... The monitor, speakers, mouse, and keyboard don't weigh much. However, I find the table unsuitable. Proper computer desks offer much more space for the PC, printer, etc., with compartments or designated shelves specifically designed for them.
