Hello everyone,
My name is Markus, I am 28 years old and a relatively new homeowner. In November, my wife and I, along with my sister and her husband, added an extension to our bungalow using a prefabricated wooden structure.
Yesterday, after a long search, our wooden staircase was finally delivered and installed. However, I am wondering if the installation was done correctly.
It is a straight wooden staircase. It is attached on the left side to a wall that is 13cm (5 inches) thick, so it is not load-bearing. The staircase was fixed with 7cm (3 inches) screws at various points. The floor-to-floor height is approximately 3m (10 feet). The bottom of the staircase simply rests on the floor without any fastening. I am attaching some pictures here.
Summary: The stringer is fixed to the wall (13cm / 5 inches thick) and seems to rest on the intermediate floor structure only. The base of the staircase is relatively large. Is all of this sufficient? Or will the staircase eventually come loose?
Best regards from Cologne
