Hello everyone,

I would like to ask for your feedback on the following renovation.

Background: Due to a gas odor in the utility room, the gas supply line to the heating system was replaced. The new installation now takes up twice the wall space, which surprised me quite a bit. Unfortunately, I was not on site, and this setup was only briefly justified as necessary due to regulations.

Can anyone provide insight on this? Are the pipes really required or allowed to be routed just as slim and close to the floor as before? (After all, the window can still barely open, and the previous wooden paneling is now completely unusable.)

What do the regulations require, so I can have at least a basic understanding?

BEFORE

Gas meter with pipes, shut-off valve and regulator in a laundry room.

AFTER

Gas meter with main shut-off valve and copper pipes on the wall.

Thank you very much
